Extra News January 2001.

Dear Reader,
01 01 09 Falkenberg. Westcoast of Sweden

I hope the New Year has started for you in the very best conditions, herewith some extra information:

As you can see above we have added to the end of the New years letter information, in French, about a Colloque in Vaarbeek, from Wednessday, the 31 October to Sunday the 4th of November. (The language used will be only in French) This is organized by the C.E.P. - Centre d¹Etudes Pathoanalytiques. For more info contact: roma@mail.dma.be)

Moreover we inform you that we have at last got Alberto PeraltaÒs article about the abbreviated Rorschach: “the Zulliger” test, also in Spanish. As some of you may already have noticed this Zulliger test has some affectionate value for me, as it was my introduction passport to start working as a psychological consult in the beginnings of the sixties.

The Zullinger test shares with the Szondi test the unhappy fact that it is a first class projective test instrument but unfortunately know only in small circles. However as we all know, those who work with these tests belong to the very best clinicians and professionals, a fact we all can be proud about. (You find PeraltaÒs article in English with the title “Break through in Rorschach theory” and in French with the title “Le test de Zulliger”)

It might interest you also that we plan to make the Forum easier to read by subdividing the information in: LANGUAGE SECTIONS. This will be gradually done during the next months.

From Prof. R. Hughes I got more information about two other books he wrote.
Their titles are:

<“Return of the Ancestor" Peter Lang, 1992, 0-8204-1790-4. He writes: “This is my attempt to interpret the life and work of Dr. Szondi in the general context of the humanities”

"The Radiant Shock of Death" Peter Lang, 1995, 0-8204-2610-5. “This deals with the dreams and visions of death and grief, using Dr.Szondi's ideas, and drawing upon epilepsy as the medical paradigm ofthe death experience. I posit the idea of the acceleration of death in the face of mortal danger; i.e. facing death or danger the mind speeds up and intensifies, becoming luminous. This parallels the Dostoevsky aura”.

These and his new book "Cain's Lament: A Christian Moral Psychology." are are available from Peter Lang AG; Jupiterstrasse 15; CH 3000, Bern 15; Switzerland. >

From the Szondi Institute I got the latest “SZONDIANA” publication, 2000, 20 Jahrgang, Heft 1. (written in GERMAN)

In this number the readers are informed that the Szondiana publications will be reduced to only one a year. The next is expected to be printed in September 2001. A new publication of a Biography about Szondi is mentioned:

Karl Bürgi-Meyer: Leopol Szondi. Eine biografische Skizze. Szond Verlag Zürich 2000. ISBN 3333-952 00598-6-2 SFR 39,--

Also the following articles can be found there:

Page 17
· Richard A. Hughes: “Destiny an Death in the Dostoevsky biografy”. Page 38.
· Ines Grämiger: “Thema Gewalt: Zwei Schlägerttypen; Die “Kobra” - Der “Potbull”. (Eine Differential Diagnose) Page 47.
· Jaako G. Borg: Hypersexuality, Epileptic personality and Epilepsy”. Page 56.
Page 66.
· Rezensionen: Page 75 -90

2001 NEW YEAR'S NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
2001 01 01

Sooner than I had expected I can send you still more information. In the first place it concerns a book by the American theology professor Richard Hughes. He writes me the following:

>I am in the process of publishing my sixth book entitled "Cain's Lament: A Christian Moral Psychology." This is a major work in which I draw upon Szondi's ideas and develop some of my own.

I have a chapter on genetics, in which I try to update his theory of geotropism. I believe that continues to be a fundamental concept and worthy of exploration. I still like the original Szondi, or as you say, the "Old Testament Szondi." I develop the idea of the Cain personality and have a chapter on the "Childhood Cain," in which I draw upon Dr. Ringger's work, whom you mention in your newsletter. I am impressed with his work, and I read his essays very carefully. I wish I could communicate to him my deep appreciation of his excellent work. (as the editor of the Forum it is my pleasure to intermediate these words by way of the Forum. LB)

Peter Lang is publishing my book, and I expect it to appear in the Spring. <

Especially for students who are interested in the Szondi test and who live far away from any Szondi study centre I have another piece of good news. During last December Dr. Maebe gave an Szondi course for Flemish/Dutch speaking students. Like Jean Melon before who sent me his Szondi course and the "Cahiers", Bob Maebe had the generosity to allow me to publish his text of the main items of this course.

It concerns in the first place the qualitative description of the 16 profiles in each of the four Vector profiles. These will be published on the Forum, as well in DUTCH as in FRENCH. Moreover I will take care for the ENGLISH translation although this may take some time.

It is not impossible that these descriptions, originally based on Jean Melon's Book: "Theorie et Pratique du Szondi, 1975, Liege", also might give some new and fresh perspectives on the existing classical standard interpretations.

(TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN):
Dr. Maebe's offer reminds me that one of my new year's wishes is that some of the other Szondi groups also showed the same generosity and would allow me to publish their publications on the Forum! Especially as my main intention is that the Leopold Szondi Forum will become a kind of General "Szondi Encyclopaedia"

I have also herewith the pleasure to inform you that Alberto Peralta has sent me the Spanish translation of his article: "Introduction to the Percept Analyse". It gives information about an abbreviated Rorschach test: the Zulliger test. In the second part of this article he refers to the different levels of personality development and their connection with Schotte's circuit theory. This also will be soon published in the Latin Section.

I heard from the Brazilians translator of Szondi articles, Senora Maria Lucia de C. Accacio that she worked too much at her computer and will have to undergo an eye operation. I am sure that I speak in the name of all the Forum readers when I wish her herewith that her operation will be successful and she will have a rapid recovery.

In case you have information or articles you want to publish let me hear.
My best wishes for a successful continuation of the year 2001,
Your editor Leo Berlips.

FRENCH NEWS :
Centre d¹Etudes Pathoanalytiques a.s.b.l.
rue Vandeweyer 53

Madame, Mademoiselle, Monsieur,
